The BC Government, along with Pacific NorthWest LNG and its principal owner Petronas, have announced a joint venture project development agreement.
The announcement – which regards to the LNG development on BC’s North Western coast – came earlier this morning at a news conference in Vancouver. As Premier Christy Clark outlined its importance:
“These agreements set the stage for a potential $36 Billion dollar investment in Northern Bc that will be a key drive of jobs for people in every corner of the Province, and really will set the stage for a new era of economic activity and a new industry for BC”
Pacific NorthWest LNG is proposing the construction of a pipeline and terminal on Lelu Island just south of Prince Rupert.
However, it has been met with stiff opposition from First Nations groups, and the agreement itself is still subject to approval later this year from the BC legislature.
Something going on in the Prince George area you think people should know about?
