Mega 50/50 Jackpot proceeds to go towards mega-park in PG

The Prince George Cougars, Prince George Community Foundation (PGCF), and Prince George Downtown Rotary have announced the next Mega 50/50 Jackpot for Saturday, February 26th.

The proceeds from the guaranteed $60,000 jackpot will go towards a proposed multi-sport family adventure park being planned by the PGCF and Rotary Club.

“The Community Foundation and Rotary are planning on building a mega-destination park for our community,” said PGCF Director of Development Mindy Stroet.

“Something that will provide a space where all families can gather outdoors together, and enjoy recreation in our community.”

If approved, the park would have a splash park, playgrounds, sitting areas, and a pump track, which would be the first pump track in Prince George.

“We’re trying to get something for everybody,” said Rotary Club President Rod Holmes.

“We’ve got a space that we love, and we’re talking with the people. At this point in time it’s way too early to say where. I’m not going to say ‘this is the spot’ because that puts the pressure on everybody.”

Holmes said the price tag for the park is estimated to be between $1.5 million to $2 million, most of which will come from donations by local businesses. However, he said there will more fundraising opportunities in the future.

The Mega 50/50 Draw will take place on the Prince George Cougars’ Mardi Gras Night when the Portland Winterhawks roll into town on February 26th. Tickets for the draw go on sale at 9:00 am on Monday, February 14th, through the Cougars 50/50 Society page. Anyone in British Columbia can buy tickets.
