Current road and sidewalk rehab discussed at City Hall

At Monday nights council meeting the state of Prince George’s roads and sidewalks was touched upon.

Councillor Brian Skakun says the issue of quality control over the past few years has not been up to par, with many sections of re-paved asphalt simply failing:

“People are happy that we are spending $7 million dollars a year on the roads, but if they are not holding up – in the long run it isn’t going to mean anything”

He also mentioned quality control when it came to the asphalt, and continually raised the question of if taxpayers are paying enough for what they are getting, or if they are paying too much for too little.

Skakun also says they never spent enough time and effort on the roads years ago and that it’s all starting to catch up now.

60 kilometers of re-paving is planned for this year – which is around 10 percent of Prince George roads.
