8 rail cars come off the tracks near Mackenzie

A train derailment just North of Prince George has not caused any issues besides some traffic headaches.

Spokesperson for CN Rail Emily Hamer says the sulfur loaded rail cars went off the tracks at a rail crossing on Highway 97, at around 8:30 on Sunday night:

“… [they] derailed upright about 25 miles from Mackenzie there were no spills or environmental impacts, but highway 97 was blocked to road traffic for a few hours”

The Cause of the derailment continues to be investigated, and highway 97 has since re-opened.
