Two arrests made near Coastal GasLink work site in Houston

RCMP say two more arrests have been made on Monday (Nov 29) on the Morice Forest Service Road near the Coastal GasLink project.

In an email Cpl. Madonna Saunderson said patrols were being made near the 44km mark when police found a blockade.

She added a vehicle had been placed across the road and three individuals dressed in camouflage were on the fire and a fire had been lit near the bridge.

Two people were arrested for contempt of a court order and mischief and the third person left the scene.

Industry vehicles were then able to continue up the road.

Both individuals arrested have been released from custody pending a future court appearance.

According to the Gidimt’en Checkpoint, 36 arrests have been made since the establishment of the blockades in late September.

Police established an enforcement operation on Nov 18 in an effort to help employees who were blocked in a camp.
