A day after getting eliminated from Canada West playoff contention, the UNBC Timberwolves men’s soccer team saved its best for Seniors Day.
Michael Henman only needed three minutes to play the hero for the T-Wolves in a 1-0 victory against the Thompson Rivers Wolfpack on Sunday from Masich Place Stadium.
Henman rippled the onion bag for the third time this season after taking a Kensho Ando feed, beating TRU goalkeeper Jackson Gardner.

In a game that was physical and saw six yellow cards, Daniel Zadravec came up huge in net for UNBC (2-5-5) turning aside all nine Wolfpack shots he faced.
With the loss, TRU drops to 4-3-5 and missed out on an opportunity to clinch second place in the Pacific Division, which would have allowed them to host a playoff game in Kamloops.
The Wolfpack were also without 5th year player James Fraser due to a one-game suspension.
It was also the last university contest for graduating players Joseph Giesbrecht, Owen Stewart, Stuart Rowlands, Alex Nielsen and Hussein Behery.
On Saturday, TRU scraped by with a 1-0 win against UNBC courtesy of a mad-scramble goal by Ryan Lewis deep inside the T-Wolves box.
In women’s action, Georgia Aldus scored in the 64th minute on a penalty kick to give Thompson Rivers its first win of the season on Sunday in a 1-nil affair.

In a back and forth affair, the Timberwolves (1-9-2) outshot TRU 13-9 and also had the edge in corner kicks by a 6-4 margin.
It was a heartbreaking end to the varsity career of UNBC goalkeeper Brooke Molby who played every minute for the T-Wolves this season. Also graduating from the program are Sarah Zuccaro, Hallie Nystedt, Mikaela Cadorette, Sonja Neitsch, Madison Doyle, Grace Gillman and Kierstin Vohar.
Both teams played to a scoreless draw on Saturday.
Each varsity team for UNBC also wore their Indigenous-themed logo and jerseys during the first half of the double header on what was called Nats’ilnik Day, which also featured performance from the UHNBC Drummers prior to each game.
