Prince George man faces $2,000 fine for unlawful possession of dead Caribou

A local man has pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of dead wildlife following an incident three years ago near Mackenzie.

The Conservation Officer Service says in January 2018, they received a report of a dead Caribou on the roadway of Kennedy Siding.

Upon arrival, officers found two dead Caribou in the area, a species that is listed as “high priority” because of their threatened status in BC.
Officers say they also noticed a lone man harvesting meat from one of the carcasses without any authorization.
The man was arrested and subsequently charged, and has since been issued a $2,000 fine.
