The search for the 2022 Mr.PG has begun.
The Mr. PG Pageant is returning to the Hart Community Centre on November 19th in support of the Prince George Hospice Society and the PG Kodiaks Football Club.
According to Organizer, Jana Phillips, they are still looking for about six more local men who are great at representing the community to participate.
The evening kicks off with an opening number that Phillips teaches the night before, then a casual and formal fashion segment is showcased and then participants present their talent in the talent segment.
To conclude the evening, a second and first runner-up is crowned along with the winner and Mr. Congeniality, who is chosen by his fellow competitors.
“We haven’t set a theme yet this year but last time it was like a country theme for our opening number but then participants all do their own talents which we brought back five years ago where they come up with their own talents,” explained Phillips.
Donna Flood with the PG Hospice Society, Councillor Kyle Sampson, Craig Briere with the Kodiak’s Football Club will be judging the competition.
Participants will be in charge of acquiring gift baskets for a silent auction, as well as selling tickets for tables.
“People can just message me directly (to participate) and I usually just go to where they work to give them their Mr.PG package if they’re interested or they can call me so I can tell them what it all entails,” Phillips explained.
She says along with fundraising, all that is required from participants is some time the night before the competition to learn the opening number and time to practice and learn their talent.
The last winner, Kyle Roberts was crowned in 2019, and Phillips says it was unfortunate that he didn’t get the chance to attend many events during his reign, but he appreciated that he got to hold the title for two years.
Tickets can be purchased by contacting Jana Phillips or through the Prestige Hotel front desk for $40 each, or a table of 10 is $350.
