UPDATE: Evacuation Alert in place for Valemount due to landslides

UPDATE 1:55 PM:

The Village of Valemount is asking residents to stay away from the landslide area near Swift Creek as the landslide is active and conditions could change suddenly.

The landslide, as well as the flow of water in Swift Creek, are being closely monitored.

7:18 AM:

The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George and the Village of Valemount, east of PG, issued an Evacuation Alert for the northern edge of the village.

There’s an active landslide three kilometres upstream of Swift Creek.

Residents in the village are being urged to sign up for alerts on the Valemount website.

People living outside of Valemount can sign up with the Regional District.
