Ness Lake Bible Camp visitors are going to see a little different schedule this summer.
Despite the May 27th announcement from Dr.Bonnie Henry allowing overnight camps to take place this summer, Ness Lake is expecting to maintain its plans to only host day camps.
“We’re still waiting patiently, she did say she was going to let overnight camps happen this summer with restrictions but we still don’t really know what those restrictions are,” explained Elliott Harder, Ness Lake Bible Camp Executive Director.
Harder says they’re planning on still hosting their daily camps that run between 7:30 am to 7:30 pm on Monday through Friday, however, they can only welcome 60% of their normal campers.
Kids can be picked up by a Ness Lake Bible camp bus at either Ron Brent Elementary or Heartland Baptist Church for a day camp.
The camps will welcome campers with groups separated by those aged 6-11 years old, 10-13 years old, and anyone aged 13 – 18.
“Some of the activities we have are just the ones every year like archery, some wide games that the kids like to do every year but unfortunately some of the ones kids’ like to do when it’s a little bit darker they won’t get to do but there’s always the waterfront, the Gaga Ball, the tumblers,” Harder explained.
He says they’re also planning on having a new activity planned for campers this summer, a new giant swing.
Harder says he’s hoping to have more information on the provincial guidelines for overnight camps late next week, however, he says even with the eased restrictions, Ness Lake will most likely just be hosting day camps throughout the summer.
“At this point, for us to make the changes for us to host overnight camps, and most of it has to do with the staffing, we just need so many more young people and cabin leaders, it’s just part of the challenges we face this year,” he added.
Registration for day camps is now available on the Ness Lake Bible Camp website.Â
