The Symphony Orchestra in Prince George has recently cut ties with its home grown conductor.
As Kevin Zakresky will not have his contract renewed when it expires in May.
The Prince George born conductor says he was disappointed, but understood the decision and says there was no ill will after the announcement.
He also says he would be happy to return to Prince George in the future:
“I’ve enjoyed my time with the PG symphony immensely, so I would welcome any opportunity to conduct and take part in classical music in my hometown”
In a written release from the PGSO on Wednesday, Board Chair Theresa Saunders says the Orchestra will be heading in a different direction, and while not directly stating reasons did refer to long term stability and financial challenges for the organization.
Concert Master Jose Delgado Guevara has been appointed as Interim Music Director, in Zakresky’s absence.
