Canada will be extending its air mission and support role against ISIS after a vote last night.
In a close 142 to 129 vote. MP’s gave the green light to extend the mission until the end of March 2016.
Last week, Minister of Foreign affairs Rob Nicholson spoke about the threat in the house of commons:
“ISILs campaign threatens Canadian citizens, it threatens the very foundation on which our society is based, [and] it does so through fear, oppression and tyranny..”
The extension will not include additional ground troops or aircraft, but it will authorize new airstrikes in Syria in the near future.
