To mark the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, CNC will be hosting a webinar for its community on Sunday.
Participants will be sharing personal experiences and debating actions to eliminate racial discrimination.
For the first hour of the event, a series of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) representatives will hold small group discussions.
They will share a recent experience with racism or anti-racism, their response, and their recommendation to generate conversation on actions that can be taken to eliminate racial discrimination.
“The experiences of many members of the CNC community offer us diverse perspectives to foster greater discussion,” said Dr. Tamara Chambers-Richards, CNC’s dean of health sciences and leader of an ongoing decolonizing education discussion group.
“Sharing these experiences and engaging in dialogue can give us a shared path forward to better understand and build more inclusive communities.”
The second hour will see a panel discuss theories of systemic racism and commitments for confronting and combating racism.
It is open to both the college community and members of the public and will last from 2 to 4 pm.
