The YMCA of Northern BC launched its annual strong kids campaign yesterday (Tuesday).
The organization is hoping to raise $60,000 by the end of August, with the money going towards supporting local families.
“(It) ensures children and families who have a financial need are able to access YMCA programs and services in our communities,” said CEO Amanda Alexander.
“1 in 5 children and families receive financial assistance to participate in YMCA camps and programs such as subsidized membership, YMCA Camp Kanannaq, and Aurora Leadership, as well as YMCA Beyond the Bell,” she added.
Alexander says the charitable sector has been hit hard by the pandemic, but that hasn’t stopped them from trying to offer support as best they can.
