North District RCMP Chief Superintendant, Warren Brown has ended his 33-year career in Law Enforcement after retiring yesterday (Friday).
Brown’s career began in Winnipeg and eventually took him to Merrit then Williams Lake and then Prince George, where earned the role of overseeing all policing in Northern BC.
“I will definitely miss the family aspect of policing most, I was so blessed to be part of such a strong organization where everybody is like-minded” explained Brown.
He says every town and position he worked in throughout his career provided him with the opportunity to help others, which is exactly why he got into policing in the first place.
“I am just a sociable person and really enjoy interacting with people and helping out wherever I could,” Brown noted.
Additionally, Brown was inspired to begin policing by his father and grandfather, who both worked in law enforcement.
Brown gave some advice for anyone considering becoming an RCMP officer, stating, “do it for the right reasons, we hire a lot of talented young men and women and those who do best are the ones that want to help people, not because it’s a secure job with good benefits.”
He plans to continue working in another industry where he can spend more time with his family.
