There have been 684 additional infections in BC, including four epi-linked cases.

BC has totaled 35,422 cases with 9,103 considered active.

Of the active cases, 325 people are in hospital and 80 in intensive care.

The northern region sits with 235 active cases.

“As vaccines become available, they will be our first step to protect people from severe illness and death. But right now, we must use all of our layers of protection, combined with the orders and restrictions, to slow the spread and keep people safe,” said Provincial Health Officer Doctor Bonnie Henry.

“What we know is that gatherings of any kind are higher risk for all of us right now because we have seen the virus move quickly and easily between us. That is why, other than work or school, we need to stay small and stay local right now,” she added.

In addition, 12 more patients have died from COVID-19 for a new death toll of 481.

There are 56 active outbreaks in the healthcare system.

10,849 people are under active public health monitoring.

The recovery rate continues to hover at 70 percent.
