The ‘Comotion’ sculpture at the corner of Victoria and 20th received a visit from the mysterious ‘Mad Hatter’ this week.

The sculpture consists of about 20 people holding onto one another and for 8 years a local woman, who would prefer to remain anonymous, has been hand-knitting a toque for each head of the piece.

“This year more than ever I hope people in Prince George are thinking of others,” said the Mad Hatter in a statement.

“Be kind and patient and realize that there are a lot of our neighbours that need a little help,” she added, “do what you can and if you need a toque help yourself.”

While the project is no easy task and often requires a stepping stool, but she describes the project as an ‘artistic outlet’, and something that ‘she can give’.

Last year, a photo of the statue dressed up appeared on the cover of the ‘People of Prince George, The Foundation of Our Community Volume II’, which lead to some well-deserved attention from the community.

In previous years, other donors have added to the piece with additional winter apparel such as coats, scarves.
