Public meeting looks to shed light on potential legislative threat

The government of Canada’s new anti-terror legislation will be the topic of discussion for a public meeting at the College of New Caledonia.

The Stand up for the North committee will be holding the get together, looking to educate the public on the legislation.

Peter Ewart is a coordinator for the event, and says there are many who feel strongly against it:

“There’s many people in Canada who feel that this legislation potentially endagers the rights and securities of all Canadians and criminalizes dissent”

Ewart says the implications could be far reaching, and says civil liberties without question will be at risk.

The meeting will take place at the CNC, Tuesday at 7 pm.
