Teegee reacts to Atleo resignation

A local First Nations chief is surprised and saddened by the announcement National Chief Shawn Atleo has resigned. Carrier Sekani Tribal Chief Terry Teegee says its a bit sudden Atleo has chosen to step down as head of the Assemely of First Nations. Teegee says Alteo made inroads in advancing education and youth in First Nations communities.

The Assembly of First Nations will now appoint an interim chief and will vote in a new one within a year. Teegee says a non-partisan chief who can take a hard stance on First Nations rights needs to be elected.
