BC Transit is hoping riders will continue to use the bus system in town even after the Canada Winter Games have gone.
Spokesperson Meribeth Burton says ridership was up 40-50% during the games, with an average of around 10,000 daily users.
She says this was unexpected, and thanked the students of UNBC for their efforts as well:
“Did we think we were going to see a 40 or 50% jump in ridership? Probably couldn’t have expected that going in, but we are thankful for the students they certainly helped raise the profile of transit in Prince George”
Burton also praised the efforts of local bus drivers, who worked tirelessly during peak times.
