Prince George’s Public Library is giving community members of all ages chances to win prizes while participating in one of three summer activities.
Three new programs will be launched: the Summer Reading Program designed for ages 5-9 years, the Tens to Teens Summer Challenge, and the Adult Summer Challenge.
The youngest library-goers, 5 to 9 years old, can pick up reading records from Curbside Holds Pickup at either branch or download one from the province-wide Summer Reading Program website.
Children will then submit their reading records for a chance to win 1 of 5 $150 prize packages.
The Tens to Teen Summer Challenge invites youth ages 10-18 years to compete in weekly challenges for a chance to win prizes.
Challenges include tasks such as “take a photo with a Little Free Library” or “create a poem about your favourite hangout spot in Prince George”.
In addition to weekly prizes, youth will have a chance to win 1 of 4 $150 prize packages.
The Adult Summer Challenge will also be coming back for a second year.
Adults will be tasked with things such as “read poetry to another person or animal” and “listen to a local radio station”.
Prizes include 1 of 5 $100 gift certificates from businesses, including Trench Brewing, Books and Company, and Save On Foods.
Participants can earn extra draw entries by attending library programs such as the Adult Graphic Novel Book Club or Double Digits on Google Hangouts.
The Tens to Teen Challenge and Adult Summer Challenge digital booklets are available on the Library’s website.
All three programs were developed with the support of The Friends of the Prince George Public Library and the Raise a Reader grant.
