The Northern Capitals female midget aaa hockey team is ready to host the best of 3 Pacific Regional on Friday against the Rocky Mountain Raiders.
Puck drop is slated for 4:45 pm at the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena in Prince George with game 2 on Saturday scheduled for 5 pm and Sunday if necessary at 10 am.
Head Coach, Mario Desjardins says he’s expecting a good battle. “It’s going to be close and could go either way so it should make for some really good hockey.”
The Capitals defeated the Raiders in the female championship at the Mac’s Tournament in Calgary during the Christmas holidays by a 5-1 score but the game was much closer according to Desjardins.
“It was a pretty even game, we scored on our opportunities with some great goaltending from Kelsey Roberts stopping a few point blank opportunities. If the Raiders get a couple of those it would have been a much different game.”
Caps Forward, Hunter Mosher believes the club has to follow a simple formula in order to win.
“Just shooting on net taking tons of shots from all areas, we have got great team speed and use it against them. We should also bump them around a little bit.”
The winner of the Pacific Regionals will represent the region at the 2016 Esso Cup in Weyburn, Saskatchewan from April 17-23.
