It is the first step in recovering the biomass lost in the 2015 Bobtail lake Wildfire.
Pacific BioEnergy Corp. has planted its first seedling in the recovery area located west of Prince George.
The Bobtail Lake fire burned an area of 25,533 hectares so severely that the traditional forest industry was unable to salvage resources.
Last year Pacific BioEnergy reached an agreement to salvage some of the burned fibre and subsequently hired several local contractors to harvest the burned fibre and truck it to the company’s PG Plant to make wood pellets.
Now, the company is focusing on restoring the biomass of the area.
