Provincial budget consultation to take place virtually

The Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services is inviting the public to participate in a virtual provincial budget consultation.

Starting on June 1st, B.C. residents who want their opinions heard can speak at a public hearing, send written comments, or fill out an online survey.

“We encourage all British Columbians to share their views on the challenges they are facing, and how the province can respond in the months and years to come,” said Bob D’Eith, committee chair.

The members of the committee are:

* Bob D’Eith, MLA Maple Ridge-Mission (chair);

* Doug Clovechok, MLA Columbia River-Revelstoke (deputy chair);

* Donna Barnett, MLA Cariboo-Chilcotin;

* Rich Coleman, MLA Langley East;

* Mitzi Dean, MLA Esquimalt-Metchosin;

* Ronna-Rae Leonard, MLA Courtenay-Comox; and

* Nicholas Simons, MLA Powell River-Sunshine Coast.

This year, public hearings will be organized by theme with presenters appearing in panel groups.

Anyone interested in presenting must register online, or by phone at 1 877 428-8337 before May 21st.

The deadline for all input is Friday, June 26 at 5 p.m.

The committee intends to release its report in August.

PG RCMP arrest Quesnel man after fire at local transfer station

The Prince George RCMP say a Quesnel resident has been arrested following a report of a fire at a transfer station. At around 9:00 Monday morning, Mounties received a report of the fire at the transfer station on 11300 Miworth Road, with one suspect identified by witnesses. 

Masich Place Stadium among parks to undergo seasonal closure

Tomorrow (Friday) is the last day for public walking at Masich Place Stadium. In addition, Carrie Jane Grey Park and Connaught Hill Park will also be closed to vehicle traffic.
