New “Support PG” initiative comes to the city

Supporting local business has become increasingly important as small businesses continue to struggle during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A number of community partners have collaborated on a new Support PG initiative, including:

  • Prince George Chamber of Commerce
  • City of Prince George
  • Tourism Prince George
  • Downtown Prince George
  • Community Futures Fraser-Fort George
  • Prince George Airport Authority
  • Women’s Enterprise Centre
  • Aboriginal Business Development Corporation
  • College of New Caledonia
  • University of Northern British Columbia
  • Northern BC Tourism Association

Support PG looks to highlight local businesses in a user-friendly way, featuring up-to-date information on local dining, retail, and other companies.

“This was a whirlwind project, put together in a relatively short period of time,” explained CEO of Tourism Prince George, Tracey McBride.

“Community groups and organizations must work together to support our local businesses – both during the pandemic and as we recover,” said Prince George Mayor Lyn Hall.

Melissa Barcellos, Manager of Economic Development for the City of Prince George said that the website will continue to evolve, even post COVID-19.

More information about local businesses can be found on the Support PG website.
