Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park’s annual Canada Day festivities cancelled

Following an announcement earlier this month that Dominion Day celebrations would be occurring virtually, Prince George’s annual “Celebrate Canada Day” festivities have been cancelled.

Both Dr. Theresa Tam, Canada’s chief public health officer and Dr. Bonnie Henry, provincial health officer, have maintained that large public events are off-limits this summer.

The event, which typically features hundreds of volunteers and organizations has been organized by the Multicultural Heritage Society at the Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park for the past 45 years.

This year is Canada’s 153 birthday, and Canada Day festivities have not been cancelled since 1976 due to cuts in Government spending.
