BC Transit testing out shorter, sleeker bus design during games

BC Transit is excited about its new Midi Bus, which has been in service in Prince George during the Games.

The bus is a new 30 foot demonstration model, ten feet shorter than regular transit buses, Its streamlined and stylish with large windows, and features a lower floor entryway. Its also much lighter thus increasing fuel efficiency and provides tremendous maneuverability.

Corporate Spokesperson for BC Transit Marybeth Burton says ridership has also increased in Prince George, as a typical Monday sees around six to seven thousand passengers:

“Yesterday we saw nearly 12,000 passenger trips, so about double. Obviously the free fares for the Canada Winter Games resonating with residents and tourists in Prince George and we hope people continue to choose transit”

The Midi Bus will be in service during and after the games, and will serve to send information to BC transit on the operating performance of the vehicle during heavy load situations.
