PG City council meetings to go forward with social distancing measures

Councilors in attendance at tomorrow’s council meeting will be sitting one chair apart from each other, and only staff required for the meeting will attend.

Chambers will be sanitized in accordance with an updated cleaning protocol and WHO recommended products.

Members of the public sitting in the gallery are now required to sit about 2 meters apart.

Public hearings for planning and land use-related bylaws will continue to be scheduled, but those who are uncomfortable attending in person can also provide written comment.

Written comments should be forwarded to the Corporate Officer by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday prior to the Council meeting in order to be included in the agenda package.

Meetings of Council Committees are also continuing as scheduled.

On the agenda for tomorrow:

  •  A report on the city’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • The Prince George Child Care Action Plan 2020, and a look into available childcare services.
  •  Temporary use permit for 1434 Old Cariboo Highway, to allow for the former site of Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers to be used as a commercial office by BC Hemp for three years.
  • A proposal by the city administration to set an end date for the downtown revitalization tax exemption. (Currently  Sept. 30, 2024)
  • a report on the alternative approval process for the City of Prince George Equipment Financing Bylaw.

The meeting will be held at 6 pm.

48 building permits issued in September

The City of Prince George had a strong September for building permit values.According to a report being presented to City Council at tomorrow's (Monday) meeting, the City issued 48 building permits last month, worth a combined $8.9 million.

The Prince George Cougars scored in bunches in a 9-3 win over the Tri-City Americans last night. (Saturday)The Cougars opened the game with a quick burst of three goals in the first six minutes of the game.
