Peace River Regional District man wins $500k in Lotto Max draw

A Peace River resident is going home with a good chunk of change following the February 7th Lotto Max Draw.

John Inkster won $500,000 after picking up a $30 weekly pack at the Dawson Co-Op bar, a change from his normal routine that paid off.

“Normally I buy (tickets) for one draw, but I didn’t know if I would make the next draw, so I decided to buy a weekly pack,” he said from BCLC’s Kamloops prize payout office.

The $30 Weekly Pack includes tickets to all of the weekly draws for Lotto Max, Lotto 6/49, BC/49 and Daily Grand games, and the Extras.

Inkster, who sells heavy-duty parts, says the win may allow him to retire earlier than expected, but the first item his wife and him are ticking off the to-do list is paying off their mortgage.

“I’m starting to get excited,” he said, “it’s starting to feel real.”
