BC’s Mobile Medical Unit arrives in Prince George

Staff at UHNBC will have some extra support for the Canada Winter Games.

As BC’s mobile medical unit or MMU is now in Prince George.

The 16 metre trailer expands into a 90 square metre flexible facility that houses 10 treatment bays and is capable of taking in trauma patients.

Clinical operations manager Peter Hennecke says the MMU will be used as an extension:

“Basically the minor treatment from their emergency department is going to be, all the patients are going to be treated here. All the acute patients are going to be treated in the hospital itself. But as we’re here in the parking lot we are actually an extension of UHNBC hospital”

The unit is completely self sufficient, however it can connect directly to the hospitals power, water and waste systems.

Something going on in the Prince George area you think people should know about?
