A slight decease in the unemployment for Northern BC, last month.
StatsCan’s report released Friday says the rate fell to 5.5% for January, down 5.9% this time, last year.
Analyst Vincent Ferrao says there were 83,900 people working in the region.
“Looking at the industries, we have more people working in educational services, and more people working in industry, information, culture, and recreation,” he says .”However, there were some declines in construction and retail and wholesale trade.”
In BC the unemployment rate was 5.6%, down slightly from this time, last year.
Unemployment dropped slightly on the national level as well, to 6.6% last month, with 35,000 jobs created nationally.
