The annual Tree of Lights fundraiser is on the way to its goal of $25,000.
The fundraiser has reached a total of $14,460 with five days left to go.
The campaign is aiming to raise funds for mental health supports in the Prince George area.
Interim Executive Director for United Way of Northern B.C. Trista Spencer said the goal isn’t just to raise money.
“We went into this with the hopes we would bring the community together at this time of year. It is something that seemed to almost be missing from the community, and it certainly is something that is a beacon of hope that we were hoping the community could gather around.”
The 60-foot tree atop the Coast Prince George Hotel can currently be seen in the downtown core, but as donations come in, more of the tree will be lit up and will become visible from across the city.
