PG snow removal efforts in full swing

The City of Prince George announced that it is using all available resources to clear roadways and walkways following the nine centimetres of snow that has fallen since Friday.

Early this morning (Saturday) road crews began working on both Priority One and Two routes throughout the city, with snow-removal efforts to take place during both day and night shifts.

Prince George’s snow and ice control policy states that the City should hope to clear all Priority One and Two routes within 48 following the end of snowfall. However, the provided time frames for snow removal are subject to change under heavy snowfall conditions.

Priority One routes include arterial roads, the downtown area, priority hills, the hospital area and other important parking lots and pathways. These routes are typically cleared overnight to avoid daytime traffic disruption.

Priority Two roads include bus routes, as well as commercial and industrial roads.

Finally, Priority Three encompasses all other roads including residential areas and any other categorized roads, walkways, and facilities.

Parking restrictions related to snow removal are in place from October 15th until April 15th each year.

On-street parking is prohibited from midnight until 7 a.m. downtown, and from 10 p.m. until 7 a.m. on Priority One roads.

On-street parking is also prohibited in residential areas from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. unless otherwise posted.

Up-to-date information on snow removal can be found online.
