2014 was another record-breaking year for the Prince George airport.
For the third straight year, the airport broke its own record for passenger numbers, sitting at 445,929 travellers last year, an increase of over 19,000 people from 2013.
Spokesperson Lindsay Cotter attributes the surge to a few factors, from WestJet’s non-stop service to Calgary and Central Mountain Air’s new non-stop service to Vancouver.
“One thing to note is that all of the events that were taking place in Prince George over the 2014 year in conjunction with the 2015 Canada Winter Games,” Cotter points out. “A lot of people were coming in to town for sponsor events, for facility tours, for test events , etcetera, so we did see a lot of travel associated with the games, as well.”
With the Winter Games 17 days away and Pacific Coastal offering non-stop flights to Vancouver Island, Cotter is sure 2015 will easily be the fourth straight record-breaking year.
