Kano Jigoro, the founder of Judo, once said, “if there is an effort, there is always an accomplishment.”
There was plenty being accomplished at the Canadian Judo Championships in Edmonton, especially for Kimiko Kamstra of the Hart Judo Academy.
The 19-year-old brought home two bronze medals, placing third in the U21 48-kilogram class on Saturday, which she then followed up with the Senior Women’s bronze of the same weight class on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Maxwell Young (Hart) and Tami Goto and Caleigh Kuramoto (Prince George Judo Club) each captured one bronze medal.
Brooke Corbett (Hart) placed fifth in the Senior Women’s 48-kilogram class on Sunday.
