April showers will not bring May flowers here in Prince George.
According to Environment Canada, it was a dry and cool month with the average temperature just over four degrees while the volume of precipitation was about 20 millimetres, the normal amount for this time of year is around 36 mm.
When stacking up where this April ranks compared to the ones before it, Meteorologist Dave Ray did an interview with MyPGNow.
“Temperature-wise this ranks us 31st and that’s when we started keeping records in 1943, which puts us right in the middle, in terms of dryness it is the 22nd driest on record so that is a little bit more significant.”
So what was the main reason behind the lack of rain or snow?
“Less significant storms I would say and any system that did pass through there were not any significant accumulations, probably smaller amounts each time.”
As for the weekend itself, the trend of double-digit temperatures should continue.
Ray believes it’s going to feel a lot like spring and even a tad bit like summer over the next week.
“On the weekend, we’re expecting highs to possibly get into the low teens with overnight lows expecting to get into the freezing mark but by the beginning of next week we could see highs possibly reaching up to 19.”
