When the doors swing open on Friday to Northern FanCon, Sci-Fi fans, Superheroes, and fans of fiction alike will all merge on the CN Centre in Prince George.
Among them, numerous creative minds such as Skye Borgman, the director and producer of Netflix’s “Abducted in Plain Sight” – a documentary covering the kidnappings of Jan Broberg Felt, an Idaho teenager who was abducted by her neighbour in the 1970s.
Borgman won a Tallgrass Film Festival award for her work on the documentary, taking home the award for Outstanding Female Filmmaker.
Borgman told MyPGNow that she’s excited to visit the Northern Capital.
“It’s really exciting for me because I’ve never been to something like this before,” she said. “I have the opportunity to come up and spend a few extra days in Prince George, and get a feel for the town and the people who are living here, as well as spend some time with some good friends of mine on a project that we’ve got in the works.”
During her time in town, Borgman will be contributing to two separate panel discussions at Northern FanCon. One will be focused on her career and the trajectory of that over the past 20 years, and the other will be as a member of a Women in Film panel, which will take place on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
Northern FanCon officially gets underway with doors opening at the CN Centre for VIP tickets at 3:00 p.m. Entry for the general public will follow at 4:00 p.m.
