The fourth annual Climb for Cancer fundraiser at the Northern Lights Estate Winery in support of the Kordyban Lodge was a smashing success.
Winery Operating Partner, Doug Bell tells My PG Now it’s been fun to see how this event has evolved in such a short period of time.
“We’ve really grown it from an organic standpoint in that the participants are so excited and this year we had almost 500 climbers and $60,000 raised which is a huge testament to the volunteers, the organizers and the participants who made this happen.”
Saturday’s event at the Northern Lights Estate Winery saw over 550 people climbed the Prince George cutbanks in support of the local facility.
“This event is really meant to honor those who aren’t with us and to fight for the ones who still are, you see such great spirit coming out at the event as we had people dressed up in many different costumes like hero and gladiator costumes, real fighters.”
“People who are going into the facility are going through an incredibly tough time in their lives and every dollar that we raise at this event makes it easier for them during a time where they have to focus on other things, most notably their health.”
Donations are still being accepted and the top fundraising team at this year’s climb was Vista Radio raising over $9000.
