Big Brothers Big Sisters launches Big 40 Project in Prince George

With Big Brothers Big Sisters of Prince George celebrating their 40th Anniversary, the agency has launched the Big 40 Project.

The goal behind the project is encouraging individuals, businesses, as well as organizations, to come together to create a $40,000 legacy fund that will be used to grow programs throughout the community and region.

The program is asking for $40 donations to commemorate 40 years of mentoring in the Northern Capital.

“The ultimate ask is we’re looking for a thousand individuals, businesses to donate $40 over the course of the year,” Executive Chair Tim Bennett told MyPGNow. “Since launching on April 13, the community response so far has been great. Right now, we’re sitting at about $6,400.”

Individuals who donate to this campaign will be recognized on the 40th Anniversary Legacy Wall, which is set to debut in Septemeber.

Bennett adds that they’re hoping to reveal a sketch of what the wall might look like at some point ni the next month.

“Over the last 40 years, our agency has seen exciting changes and this is because of the ongoing support from our community,” said Bennett. “Together, we can create a legacy for our programs, our children, and community.”

While the project is suggesting a $40 donation, there are set donation levels and all donations, regardless of the size, will stay in Prince George and support mentoring programs being run by the agency.
