For the first time, the Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, Janet Austin, will be visiting the Northern Capital.
Having served in the role since April 24, 2018, Austin will be touring the city during her four-day stay in Prince George.
The Honourable Governor will be arriving in the city on April 12, and spending time at the University of Northern B.C., the Autism Centre, the Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park, as well as many other locations throughout the city.
Director of Communications for the Office of the Lieutenant Governor, Chantelle Krish told MyPGNow that the purpose of the visit is to celebrate the rich diversity the province has to offer throughout its communities.
“I think the biggest takeaway is really just meeting some of the people in the community and find out the rich contributions that they’re all making, and what makes Prince George so special,” said Krish. ”
“Being from the island, and then herself being from the lower mainland before that, we get to experience Vancouver, Victoria, and these surrounding areas, but moving into the central region, it’s important for Her Honour to build an understanding of what makes these communities unique, and what are some of the gems that exist there.”
