Over 4000 Ibs collected for PG food bank

The Annual Campbell’s “Help Hunger Disappear” food drive collected over 4000 ibs of food.

Last weekend volunteers were at all save on foods in Prince George handing out bags and collecting donations.

Bill Glasgow, Donor Relations and Fund Raising Coordinator with the Salvation Army, said the event is always a big success.

“The food bank always needs help, there are always articles in demand we need, and when we don’t have them, we either can offer it or go out and buy it so these food drives help us do the work we do and if we could not do the work without that.”

In addition to the food, the campaign also collected $500 in donations, Glasgow said will go towards restocking when the supply runs low.

“One of the things always in need is canned proteins like canned salmon, canned tuna, canned chicken, because that goes a long way to feeding a family, pasta sauces and pasta are always high on the list because they help fill you up.”

He said for someone having trouble with food insecurity having a meal that fills them up goes a long way.
