Three bag thefts in last 24 hours

Prince George RCMP are reporting an increase in distraction thefts in the area. In the last 24 hours, there were three reports of such incidents.

Police responded Tuesday night at the Roll-a-Dome facility where a man and woman stole a backpack.

The same night there were also two other reported cases of purse theft at large retail stores.

“Three separate distraction theft in the community. Where one accomplice distracted the victim while the other steels personal property such as backpacks or purses,” said Cpl. Craig Douglass.

He said all people should keep their personal belongings on them and not leave purses or bags in shopping carts.

After the third incident, one woman was arrested and later released on a promise to appear.
