Transport of oil via liquid natural gas pipelines may be banned in BC, but the MLA for the Stikine region says that still isn’t good enough.
Doug Donaldson feels more should still be done to prevent natural gas pipelines from being used to carry heavy oil.
“The best way to address that is through legislation,” he says. “I’ll be pushing that and I don’t know why the Liberals are afraid of a public forum, which legislation enables us to do, rather than from behind closed doors, through regulation.”
Back in the fall session, Donaldson introduced a bill that would put legislation in place to prevent an LNG to oil conversion, but the session ended before it could go any further.
He plans on reintroducing it again soon.
