Sean Farrell, Executive Director for the Community Arts Council of Prince George & District, said the money raised will go towards supporting local arts organizations.
“Not only is this a direct funding component, for Theatre Northwest, Prince George Symphony Orchestra (PGSO), and Community Arts Council but it also contributes to a grant program we established last year called the Arts Micro-Grant program for emerging artists in Prince George.”
Farrell said the Arts Micro-Grant is to help an existing project that won’t realize its full potential without an additional investment for things like advertising.
He adds they are hoping to get 200 people to come out and support the event to reach their goal of $20,000.
“An important Factor for a city with a high standard of living such as Prince George is the social environment that is driven by a strong art and culture sector,” said PG Mayor Lyn Hall.
At the event, there will be performances by the PGSO, ballet dancers, and an opera singer.
Prince George Canadian Tire is the title sponsor for the event, contributing $10,000.
The ball is set to take place on May 4. Tickets are available at the Theatre Northwest or by calling 250-649-6477.
