Hydrant burst on 10th Ave. makes ice rink

Updated, 12:00pm:

A burst fire hydrant made for an impromptu ice rink on 10th and Central this morning.

This after a fire hydrant was struck by a hit-and-run on 10th and Central, at around 5:30 a.m..

Utilities Supervisor with the City, Gina Layte-Liston says the police have been notified.

“We have done a report and we’re just waiting to hear back if there’s any information,” she says.

Layte-Liston days road crews cleared the street while utilities turned off the gushing water that had exploded like something out of a movie.

Previous version: Reports from people in the city have been coming in that a fire hydrant has burst on 10th Ave. &  Central near Burger King, spraying a geyser of water onto the street.

No word from police or the city yet, though judging from the above photo submitted via Facebook, the area is best to be avoided.
