Following a hold and secure situation at Polaris Montessori Elementary school this afternoon, police have released a statement on the nature of the incident.
According to RCMP, they received an anonymous threat towards an independent childcare centre near the intersection of Simon Fraser Avenue and Gladstone Drive in Prince George.
This child care centre is in close proximity to Polaris Montessori School, the target of a separate threat this past Friday, March 8th. Police said that threat has been thoroughly investigated and police have not found any evidence to support that there was any credible threat to the school.
“Our officers take all threats seriously and will continue to investigate these Criminal offences with all the resources we have available” says Cpl. Craig Douglass, spokesperson for the Prince George RCMP.
“With an abundance of precaution, we have taken the necessary steps to ensure the safety of these children and the children attending the neighbouring school.”
Police believe the same person or persons are responsible for these two threats and that someone has information that can identify those responsible.
