YXS to add new food and beverage service to departure lounge area

Some subtle changes are on the horizon at the Prince George Airport.

The local Airport Authority is kicking off a few capital improvements, with upgrades coming to the departure lounge.

In an interview with My PG Now, Marketing Manager Susan Clarke stated the updates come following some recent feedback from passengers.

“One of our biggest complaints from customers through our research has been elevators and the lack of food and beverage service in the departure lounge, so we’re going to remedy that.”

As for how YXS is going to go about the upgrades, some vending machines will be re-arranged throughout the building as a result.

“We need to move the vending machines to a new location and in order to do that, we have to close off an area around them and around where they are going, which will close the family washroom and the vending machines for a period of three weeks.”

“After that, the washrooms and the vending machines will be open again but we will have one end of the departure lounge closed off in order to put in the restaurant.”

The vending machines and the family washroom in the departure lounge will be unavailable for public use starting tomorrow until April 1st.
