It was another huge year for Operation Red Nose in Prince George.
Final numbers are in, and spokesperson Andrea Johnson says 1,123 rides were given this holiday season, the same number as their all-time high in 2010.
“We’re very grateful and thankful to all of our volunteers, whether they came out for just one night, or worked all nine nights, we couldn’t do it without them,” she says. “As well as the clients, who chose to call us and get a safe ride home. So, we are absolutely thrilled with how the season unfolded.”
The season was topped off with 204 trips on New Years Eve from 35 volunteer teams.
Prince George also broke the 10,000th ride mark on New Year’s Eve over the city’s 17-year history.
Johnson says the winning team will get a 20-minute helicopter ride from Aberdeen Helicopters as a prize, while the clients will also be contacted and offered a prize, as well.
