The RCMP says they will be out in full force around the city tonight with road blocks trying to catch drunk drivers.
So unless you want to ring 2015 in from a jail cell, stay off the roads if you have been drinking. Drunk driving is the leading cause of criminal death in Canada and penalties have never been higher.
Operation Red Nose will be having their biggest and final night of the year. They expect to provide their 10,000th ride in their 17 year history tonight. They plan on having 34 teams on the road. If you need a free safe ride home with your car tonight call 250-962-RIDE, but expect a wait, especially after midnight. Red Nose will be operating until 4am.
BC Transit buses will be free from 7pm onward.
And of course, taxis are an option. They also expect to be very busy after midnight and are advising you call your cab ahead of time and expect a wait.
