2014 was a momentous year for our new Mayor.
Lyn Hall won his bid to move from council to the mayor’s seat last month and says significant rezoning of properties is the biggest achievement he’s seen in the city.
“It was a very exciting time for us, the results were exactly what I was looking for,” he says. “It was a very humbling experience, lots of responsibility goes with that position, we were very excited.”
Looking back, Hall says the biggest challenge for council this year revolved around tackling the city’s infrastructure.
“I think the infrastructure is going to be a carry-over to 2015,” he says. “I did say a few times during the campaign that the infrastructure needs for the city are going to be one of the biggest issues that this council deals with. How we fund and finance that project, I think it’s a long-term vision that we need to put toward infrastructure renewal.”
Yet Hall is more excited than stressed over what 2015 has to offer; From the city turning 100 years old, UNBC celebrating 25 years, and the Canada Winter Games.
“It’s going to be a very memorable year, a historic year for us, because of our 100th birthday,” he says. “Those are some of the big items that I think are really going to put Prince George on the national map. We knew all along that the 2015 games held that potential and I think we’re going to see that come to fruition in February.”
